The role

Moredun Scientific is seeking a Study Director to join the Animal Health division. The Animal Health team conduct efficacy and safety studies evaluating innovative vaccines, therapeutics and other animal health products for veterinary use in livestock. You will also be involved in the development and validation of infectious disease models.

What you’ll be doing

You will be the Study Director/Investigator for non-regulatory and regulatory studies appropriate to your level of experience. In addition, you will be required to play a supporting role in other studies with requirements ranging from those of routine laboratory and live-phase support to those where you will develop areas of expertise and in turn assume responsibility for these specific work areas which may include specific laboratory tasks such as tissue culture, or Home Office licenced procedures.

Essential skills and experience

· Degree in a life sciences discipline.

· Experience of working in a biological laboratory environment.

· Practical laboratory experience of working with pathogens.

· Good interpersonal and communications skills and effective organisational abilities.

Desirable skills and experience

· Home Office individual licence holder.

· A good understanding of quality management systems (eg VICH-GCP, GLP).

· Experience of working with livestock.

· Contract research or project management experience.

· A good understanding of livestock infectious diseases and the use of challenge models.

· Knowledge of regulatory guidelines for safety and efficacy studies for veterinary medicinal products.

· A clean driving licence.

The post is based on site at the Pentlands Science Park near Edinburgh. You will be required to participate in out of hours / weekend work for specific projects for which additional payment is made.
