The role
We are looking for a practical, proactive and customer-focused Facilities Assistant to join our Facilities team. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the smooth running of our site, Pentlands Science Park, which includes laboratories, offices, farm environments, and estate grounds.
As a key member of the Facilities team, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient and welcoming environment across the park. You will provide essential support to colleagues, tenants, contractors and visitors, helping ensure day-to-day operations run effectively.
This is a diverse role offering a mix of maintenance, grounds, logistics, and customer-facing responsibilities - no two days are the same.
Experience required
You must have:
· Experience in a maintenance or construction/property environment
· Strong handyman skills and ability to use tools and equipment safely
· Good understanding of health & safety (or willingness to undertake training)
· Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
In addition to the above, the ideal candidate will also have
· PAT testing certification
· Grounds maintenance or horticulture experience
· Experience operating plant or machinery (e.g. tractor)
· Awareness of facilities management systems
