Salary: £25,949 (additional payments apply for on-call duties and overtime.)
Do you enjoy practical, hands-on animal work? We're looking for a Bioservices Technician to join our Bioservices team at the Moredun Group.
This is a varied, hands-on role working with multiple species of agricultural animals within a specialist scientific and research environment. You'll be involved in the day-to-day care and welfare of animals, supporting scientific procedures and maintaining animal accommodation and equipment.
If you have practical experience in animal husbandry, agriculture or animal care and are interested in developing your experience within a research environment, we'd encourage you to apply.
What you'll be doing
Your work will include:
· Providing daily care, feeding and cleaning for a range of animal species
· Monitoring animal health and welfare, recognising signs of illness or distress
· Maintaining clean, safe and appropriate animal accommodation
· Supporting scientific procedures in line with approved protocols
· Keeping accurate records and supporting high standards of biosecurity
· Using and maintaining equipment and machinery (training provided)
The role involves working within the requirements of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act, with comprehensive training and support provided.
Training and development
You don't need previous experience of working in a scientific research environment. Training and support will be provided to help you develop your knowledge and practical skills across different animal species, equipment and procedures.
What we're looking for
Practical experience in animal husbandry or animal care
Confidence and compassion when handling animals
A proactive approach and willingness to learn
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Full UK driving licence
It would be great if you also have
Animal science or related qualification
Experience with multiple species
Experience in laboratory or research environments
Home Office licence
